Blue Bowl
When you can’t go to the beach, you bring the beach to you 🌊
Living in SoCal, my favorite way to cure the Monday blues is a beach day. But as the beaches are a bit hectic lately, here’s some ocean vibes you can make at home.
This blue bowl gets its color from blue majik, a blue form of Spirulina. Flavorless and packed full of health benefits, this bright blue powder plays nicely with frozen bananas, pineapple and coconut milk. It’s like a Pina Colada for breakfast, who doesn’t love that? (rum is not encouraged for breakfast but this IS a customizable recipe 😉)
Ingredients:
2 Frozen Bananas
1/2 Cup Frozen Mango
1/2 Cup Frozen Pineapple
1/4 Cup Coconut Milk
1/4 tsp Blue Majik
Pineapple Juice (add little by little to give your blender something to work with!)
Recipe
Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend!
* pro tip: you want your coconut milk and pineapple juice very cold! Anything even slightly warm can turn this into a soup instead of a creamy smoothie bowl! (The soup version is still delicious)
BUT this recipe is sooo versatile! Don’t like pineapple? Use apple, oranges or grapefruit! If you don’t like coconut, a vegan yogurt would make this creamy and delicious! Toppings are entirely up to you, but lovely fruits such as raspberries or strawberries, and delectable crunchy bits like granola or cocoa nibs are my favorite. Go ahead and swirl some yogurt or coconut milk on the top as well!
